Author

Born and raised in Hanover, PA, on the very farm she writes about, Heather Sheppard Lunn graduated from Washington and Lee University and received her Master’s from Southern Methodist University. Her “farm degree” comes from first-hand experience, and she is still learning after more than 15 years of directly working the Fold. She currently runs Sheppard Farm on Apple Hill, which was started by her father, Peter H. Sheppard, in 1976. They have 180 (or so) registered Scottish Highland Cattle. In addition to being a Brood Cow herd, Sheppard Farm raises beef and hosts agritourism events for the public to learn more about the Fold, farming, the importance of agriculture, and land preservation.

Kaitlyn also grew up in Hanover, Pa and recalls fond memories of visiting the Sheppard Farm Highlands as a child. Creative from a young age, she began an art business in ninth grade and has since shared her art with the community in a variety of ways. Currently, using her creative passions in a different light, she studies Biomedical Engineering at the University of Michigan, and continues to pick up the paintbrush whenever she can.
